Olympus has fallen

It's weird.
I sit here for countless minutes, watching the time pass by trying to think of a clever way to begin this entry...
I haven't come up with anything so I guess we'll get straight into things :)

This weeks movie was "Olympus has Fallen". And to get down to it, I thought it was brilliant!
Now comes the difficult task of breaking it down for you without giving away any spoilers...
Well firstly the story is about an ex secret service agent getting thrown head first into action again when a Korean terrorist group decides to attack the White House.
Now you might be thinking.. Well that's going to be pretty average.. How can you set a whole movie inside one house? To be honest I was thinking the exact same thing, but to my surprise they pulled it off spectacularly!
I must give you a bit of a warning though, they do not hold back on the ruthlessness during the film. Some of the kills are something you would picture seeing on some crazy video game or something.. In saying that, the movie could probably be seen as a game of Call of Duty played out on the big screen.
One of the few things I would criticise about the film would be the constant little update subtitles that kept popping up. Oh, my, god. Yes yes I know they were trying to make it look realistic and so on, but after the first few have interrupted your viewing you will just end up rolling your eyes each time a new one pops up informing you about what room they are in or who is speaking...
Other than that small nit pick I would highly recommend going along to see this :)

In other news, I recently treated myself to new Jimi Hendrix album "People, Hell and Angels".
Straight up, this album is a must own.
The album is made up of a bunch of tracks previously un released, and have been touched up by modern drum tracks just to fill in those empty gaps. We all know that Hendrix introduced us to more than our fair share of mesmerising riffs, and it has been great being able to see more of an insight to the songs that could have been.
Although... There is one thing...
Now we all know Hendrix, rock star of the 1960's
And then let me introduce Steve Vai, modern guitarist of near equal amazingness.
I have a little task for you guys if you feel willing to witness the weirdness of the world of music, have a listen to "Villanova junction blues" by Jimi Hendrix, which is off this album.

Done that?
Good.
Lets take a minute to remember this was recorded some time in the 60's, never released, never heard apart from those in the studio at the time.
Now we fast forward to modern day recordings, have a listen to "Tender surrender" by Steve Vai.

:O
...
Right?
How is this even possible? Two different time eras, two different people with two different lives. And yet, we have relatively the same song!
Just goes to show how amazing music can be I guess. Which is why we love it so much.

That is all for tonight, and I will leave you with a foreign, yet creative version of "voodoo child", played on a traditional Chinese instrument.

Enjoy :)

Rusty out.
