After Earth

Greetings followers.
It has been quite some time.. Unfortunately the stress of assignments and other issues of the real world have interfered with any reviews being posted :(
But that's okay because we are back today with the much anticipated movie 'After Earth' which was released today.
Basic plot of this movie is that humans have left earth many years ago because we pretty much screwed ourselves over by destroying the planet with pollution and all that. So now we are set many years in the future and mankind lives on another planet called something like nova 1, but there's a problem... When humans first arrived on Nova 1, we came across some alien race that obviously wanted to destroy this threat. Basically the aliens are blind and can smell fear, so there is a unique group of soldiers called "ghosts"... People without fear who come along and sass the aliens up.
Jumping forward to the present day, and without giving too much away on the movie, we have a famous general soldier (Will Smith) who is never home and his son (Jayden Smith) who wants to prove to him that he is a worthy fighter.
Now this is where my major problem was with the movie. The son was just a whinny little prat 90% of the movie...
When I look back on the film, I think the idea is fantastic.. Just they could have done it a lot better, and probably chosen a different actor for to play the son. On top of that they could have done a better job with taking you on more of a journey with the characters.. Nothing changes with them until the last half hour and it doesn't flow very well.
Visually this movie is really good! Seeing Earth and how it's adapted after thousands of years without humans was pretty cool but again they could have spent more time developing the story around it.
Overall I would give After Earth a 5/10 and that's being generous. Maybe wait for this one to come out on DVD.

Quite a few movies to look forward to in the next few weeks so keep an eye out for more uploads :)

Peace!
